We live in a time when access to information about the Bible is at an all-time high. Yet our understanding of what it’s really about, and how we live in line with it, hasn’t kept pace.

Come along to Wonderful Word — a day conference on the Bible — to grow in your understanding of what the Bible is, and have an encounter with the God it’s all about.

  • Wonderful Word is taking place at St Peter’s Bury (BL9 9QZ) on Saturday 5th October 2024. Doors open at 9:30am, and we’ll wrap up by 4:30pm.

It won’t be livestreamed, so we’d love to see you on site!

  • There’ll be times for worship to focus on God, prayer to be transformed by His word, and connection with one another.

Our main input comes from those who have devoted themselves to understanding, applying, and teaching the Bible in churches and colleges. There’ll be opportunity for discussion along the way, and Question & Response with the contributors to end.

We’re delighted that Dr Ruth Perrin (St John’s College and King’s Church Durham) will be giving us an overview of the whole Bible.

Rev’d Canon Dr Michael Leyden (Dean of Emmanuel Theological College) will take us through an in-depth look at part of the Old Testament.

Rev’d Dr Ezekiel Shibemba (Nazarene Theological College and All Nations Church Oldham) will be delving into a portion of the New Testament.

  • This is for you, if you’re a:
    — Christian trying to follow Jesus more wholeheartedly
    — Small group leader wanting to guide others faithfully
    — Preacher wanting to stay sharp
    — Church leader wanting input and a way of investing in your team

We’ve deliberately brought together speakers who love the church. The content might stretch you, but it’s not going to be academic for the sake of it. The aim is to help anyone learn to love God with their mind as well as their heart, soul, and strength (Luke 10 verse 27).

We, unfortunately, aren’t able to offer childcare. The content would be suitable for those aged 16+. Anyone under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.

  • Tickets are available now! Our early bird rate is available until the 16th June.

We recommend either bringing lunch, or getting a ticket with lunch included, as there aren’t many places to buy food from quickly around the church.

We don’t want money to be the reason anyone doesn’t come. If that would make the difference for you, contact us about a bursary ticket, or joining the Wonderful Word team to help with logistics or hospitality.

    Terms and refunds:
    — Your registration is not complete until full payment is received.
    — If you request to cancel your ticket (by emailing hello@stpetersbury.church) more than a week before the event (by 9:30am on Saturday 28th September 2024), you will be eligible for a full refund, minus a £4.00 administration fee. The refund will be issued within 5 working days, and can only be issued back to the credit/debit card used to purchase the ticket.
    — No refunds will be given within a week of the event (from 9:30am on Saturday 28th September 2024 onwards). You are welcome to find someone to transfer the ticket to, if you would like. Please email us to let us know when that has occurred.
    — If the event is cancelled or postponed, we will be in touch with all attendees to offer them a full refund (without any administration fees) or that their ticket be transferred to a new date, as appropriate.

  • Find out how to get to St Peter’s, here. There’s free parking on street, as well as buses that stop right outside, and come in from Whitefield or Bury tram stations.

Please consider travelling in as environmentally friendly a way as possible.

St Peter’s has step-free access from the pavement, and a hearing loop.

We hope to see you there, and that it’s a transformational time for you!
